KIT is involved in eleven of the 26 NFDI consortia as well as in Base4NFDI through various institutes and individuals. In addition to the various activities in the consortia, this also includes participation in the NFDI sections.
In order to keep track of these developments and also to interlink them with the ongoing activities at KIT relating to research data infrastructures and research data management, the RDM@KIT team (represented by KIT Library, Digital Office and the Scientific Computing Center, SCC), organizes a regular exchange between all involved in NFDI at KIT.
The meetings take place in presence and in English.
If you are interested in being added to the e-mail list, please contact Alexandra Axtmann.

The RDM Forum offers another format for KIT researchers - here you can present your projects, examples of best practice, or new developments in the field of RDM from your disciplines.
The next virtual RDM Forum will take place on Wednesday, 11 November 2026, 10 - 11 am. We cordially invite you to join us!
Our Topics:
FAIR research data management with Ro-Crates: NovaCrate; Christopher Raquet (SCC)
This presentation will introduce research object crates (RO-Crates), a packaging format for research data and its metadata. Throughout the presentation, we will look at the different parts of an RO-Crate and how they can be of use to FAIR research data management and exchange. NovaCrate will be introduced as a tool for working with and gaining understanding of RO-Crates. We will take a look at the core features of NovaCrate so that researchers can get started with it right away. We are also keen to learn about your ideas for use cases of RO-Crates and how NovaCrate could support you.
The state of RDM at KIT: Insights from the survey “OpenScience@KIT”; Michael Anger & Juliane Mörsel (KIT Library)
In early 2026, KIT Library conducted an empirical survey on the current state of Open Science at KIT, including perceptions and practices around RDM. This presentation offers an overview of the results: How familiar are KIT employees with the FAIR principles? Are DMPs a commonly used tool? And what conclusions can be drawn from these findings?
